Funding

Since the end of 2010, the Climate and Energy Fund and the BMVIT (Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology) have been supporting the development of strategies, technologies and solutions, which allow cities and their residents to transition to an energy-efficient and climate-friendly way of life. Common objectives are the improvement of the quality of life and the presentation of Austria as an attractive business location.

While the Smart City initiative has been focusing since 2010 in their calls for proposals on the support of comprehensive urban demonstration and implementation projects, the BMVIT’s technology Programme “City of Tomorrow” is striving for the development  of new technologies, technological subsystems and urban services for the city of the future.

Besides these two support Programmes, the Smart Cities Funding Guide presents information about additional funding available for Smart Cities measures at the national and European level.
