MehrGrüneSchulen - Finance Model for Green Infrastructures at Schools

Summary

Despite many known positive effects of green infrastructure in schools, these have not been implemented or have been implemented only to a limited extent. The reason for this is the lack of financing possibilities. Therefore, financing models are being developed for the first time within the framework of the MehrGrüneSchulen project. For this purpose, the responsible decision-makers throughout Austria will be identified and integrated into the development depending on the type of school, the location and the type of greenery. As a basis/input for this, the life-cycle costs of existing and optimised greening systems will be identified and processed and, in addition, easily implementable solutions for green infrastructure will be developed for independent implementation in schools and realised in an exemplary manner in at least one school per federal province. The developed financing models provide a broad argumentation and action basis for the roll-out of green infrastructure at schools throughout Austria.
